6 remain + adj. / n. /prepositional phrase(介詞短語)
He remained silent / quiet. = He continued to be silent / quiet.
My sister remains unkind to her boyfriend as usual. = My sister continues to be unkind to …

He remains in high spirit. = He continues (to be ) in high spirit.

9 no longer

He no longer lives there. = He does not live there any more / longer.
no longer 當一個副詞用而不分開，放在主動詞后面或動詞be的后面;而not any more / longer中的not要放在助動詞后面，any more/ longer放在主動詞后面。
10 so far: until now / up to the present
So far we haven’t seen Tom. ( so far 通常與現(xiàn)在完成時連用)
B Sentence patterns
1 “but” and “however”
He would like to go, but he can’t. = He would like to go. However, he can’t.
He enjoyed the song very much, but he can’t sing it as beautifully as the singer. = He …much. However, he can’t …
But直接連接兩個分句；而however要另起一句，且無論放在句首或句中，需用逗號與其它部分隔開。
